Our mind is the ultimate trickster

It is amazing how powerful and also disillusioned our mind is.

Our brains are capable of executing complex tasks and brilliant feats, and yet fall for the most basic biases.

A bias or an illusion is like a magic trick. You are in awe of the sleight of hand and more so when you realise it all happened right in front of you in plain sight. When the secret is revealed it feels so obvious and simple. Have you watched a mystery movie or read a novel where the answer was staring at you the whole time? How could I have missed that! The only difference with your biases and beliefs is that your brain is both the trickster and the one that gets tricked.

Mirages, illusions and echo chambers are just magic tricks played in real life with real consequences.
